Beginning January 1, 2025, all businesses located within the corporate limits of the City must annually register with the City as outlined in §110.60 of the City Code.
This registration is designed to ensure that the City’s police department and other emergency services have access to accurate records of businesses operating in our community, facilitate communication, and better provide service in the event of an emergency. Below are key details about the new requirement:
- Who Must Register:
- All businesses selling products or services for profit, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies, franchises, and cooperatives.
- Businesses operating from distinct spaces or buildings with separate addresses must register each location separately.
- Exemptions:
- Home-based businesses where clients do not visit the business location.
- Not-for-profit entities.
- Governmental entities.
- Registration Details:
- The annual registration form will require basic information about your business, including contact details, business type, building ownership, emergency contacts, and other relevant details. The registration form can be found here: Business Registration Form
- Registration Fee:
- The annual fee is $25.00, payable upon submission of the registration form.
- Deadline:
- Registrations must be submitted no later than January 15th of each calendar year.
- Penalties:
- Failure to comply with the registration requirement may result in fines as provided under §130.99 of the City Code.
